WIXOM, Michigan – The Umlor Group, a Michigan-based Civil Engineering and Land Surveying firm, has announced that is has acquired GreenTech Engineering, a leader in mobile LiDAR services, effective April 25, 2025.
The strategic acquisition of GreenTech accelerates Umlor Group’s efforts to expand its land surveying services by adding mobile LiDAR to its long list of capabilities. LiDAR is an acronym for “Light Detection, and Ranging”, which is a remote-sensing technology that uses laser beams to measure precise distances and movement in an environment, in real-time. The LiDAR equipment can be mounted to a vehicle and travel at highway speeds while collecting an immense amount of data. The data can then be used to generate everything from detailed topographic maps to the precise 3D models that are required to safely guide an autonomous vehicle through a rapidly and constantly changing environment.
