The Umlor Group is pleased to announce the hiring of Jim Turnquist as Project Manager – Utilities for its Private Utility Locating Division. Turnquist brings more than 15 years of combined experience in both the public and private utility locating industries, further strengthening the company’s growing service capabilities.
Throughout his career, Turnquist has served in a variety of leadership and technical roles, including Technician, Field Supervisor, Trainer, and District Supervisor. His comprehensive field knowledge and team leadership experience position him to successfully lead and expand Umlor Group’s Private Utility Locating Services.
In his new role, Turnquist will oversee operations and project execution for the division, utilizing both traditional electromagnetic (EM) locating methods and advanced Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology to deliver accurate and dependable subsurface utility data to clients.
The division’s standard deliverables include:- Detailed technician notes
- Site photographs
- Site sketches provided in PDF and KMZ formats
- GPR KMZ data files

Outside of work, Jim enjoys spending time with his wife and is deeply rooted in his faith, which guides his personal and professional life. He also enjoys fishing, hunting, and walking in the woods, where he appreciates the clarity and perspective the outdoors provides.
